We arrived off the south coast of Fiji in the early hours of 16 July as a nasty front went through. We had 25 knots of wind on the nose, driving rain and poor visibility, and it was quite a flog up to the entry port, Lautoka. Here we met the most delightful customs, immigration etc, but the most extraordinary bureaucracy - customs gave us about 8 different forms to fill in. It was very expensive as it was Saturday pm, and they were on overtime!

We then moved down to Vuda (pronounced Vunda) Point Marina - very good facilities as connected to a big international hotel, where we dried out (the clothes, not us). Very little evidence of military activity apart from a check-point on the road - necessary as BP has a terminal at Vuda, and it was thought a prime target for Speight if he wanted to cause further trouble. The heavily-moustachioed Fijian soldier waved us through with his Kalashnikov and a broad smile!

We're now anchored in Musket Cove - a resort in a lovely bay inside a beautiful reef. We have Pete and Kate Bowen-Simpkins with us and it's great to have their company. We're going to Cruise the Manamucas & Yasawas for a couple of weeks, and then return home in August.
