We received a forecast of 45 knots for tonight, so we've run for shelter. We're in a gorgeous turquoise marsa (bay surrounded by reefs), but unfortunately it's a war zone - Sudan territory, but controlled by an Egyptian gunboat with an Egyptian military camp ashore. The Captain is courteous and friendly, but we are not allowed to anchor, & are tied up alongside him. We're also not allowed to swim which is seriously frustrating as we're surrounded by wonderful reefs teeming with fish.

But now only 272 miles to Safaga, the entry port for Egypt, where we will spend some time visiting Luxor etc. It's the first place that Richard and Sue can jump ship and return home.
