After a lovely 6 weeks in the UK round Christmas, we returned to Hygeia on New Year's eve via Thai Air - no mention of the New Year on board, so no excess celebrations, no resolutions to be broken, and no hangover, just a rather prolonged jet-lag. Hygeia was in excellent shape when we returned, and there hasn't been too much work in getting her ready for the next leg. Tony Amery and his son Paul are on board with us, and after revictualling we set off to explore Phangnga Bay: this is a really remarkable area of rather shallow water with numerous extraordinary small, high limestone islands (made famous in the James Bond film, "The Man with the Golden Gun"). We spent a few days there before moving down to Nai Harn Bay in the South of the Island, where we have been anchored along with about 50 other boats, organising the rather tedious business of clearing out. Anyway, it's now all done, Hygeia is fuelled and watered up, and we plan on setting off for Sri Lanka tomorrow morning. The boats ahead of us have all had good passages with excellent wind, so we are looking forward to a good trip. We shall be travelling as usual in company with Jofrik and Mia on Mazy, and Craig and Myles on Yang Shou will also be with us. If the weather remains good, we should be in Sri Lanka in about 9 days. Tony has been to the fishing gear shop to upgrade his tackle (his words),
and judging by the size of hooks he has bought, and the thickness of
the line, is setting his sights high! Home | Top | < previous | next > |
