Our good fortune with the weather finally ran out today, when we had a hammering going from Port Smyth to Massawa in a headwind of 25-30 knots with a big sea. But we made it and are now safely anchored up in this port which looks like Turin in the 1940s - the Italian influence is still strong. It looks a really interesting place. However, tomorrow we are taking the local tourist bus up 8000 ft+ to Asmara, a beautiful city up in the cool highlands. We will spend at least one night up there, maybe two.
